The volcanic slopes of Rwanda's Gakenke District provide the perfect growing conditions for farmers comprising the Abakundakawa cooperative. Founded in 2004, the farm co-op has ballooned from 180 members to well over 2000 and now operates two washing stations in the region. Abakundakawa is an economic and organizational powerhouse -- helping to build infrastructure, pay dividends, and fund a fresh water supply for a local hospital. The organization also provides healthcare and dairy cows to help combat food insecurity among its members. This particular lot was grown by two of Abakundakawa's women's associations, the Duhingekawa and Abanyameraka.

Such beautifully roasted coffee with rich flavor and a lot of soul. Really love this for pour-over every morning :)
